There was some concern this bed-wetting puppy may have had a congenital defect termed “ectopic ureter”.
In this condition a ureter [the narrow tube which normally takes urine from the kidneys to the bladder] can empty in an incorrect location, preventing the pup from having normal urinary control. However these images from her ultrasound scan show urine “jetting” from ureters into the bladder at the correct locations.
This scan was made with the puppy lightly sedated and helps rule out a problem which would have otherwise required general anaesthesia and xrays to investigate. The stream of urine flowing toward the top of each image is colour-coded red. The remainder of the urine in the bladder is the large elongated black area.
